RANKS
of the City Constabulary have apprehended five jewellery snatchers
who were handed over to the Police over the last two days.
The
thieves were caught with the help of public-spirited citizens and
beaten after snatching
gold chains and bracelets from unsuspecting shoppers
and passers-by in the Stabroek Market area, Georgetown.
But the five arrested were chased through nearby streets by people
in angry mobs who witnessed the thefts.
All of the suspects are expected to appear in court today
