Bandit
almost severs Cuban national’s leg
A Cuban national had his left ankle almost
severed by a cutlass wielding bandit, who relieved
him of $2,000 last night.
Luis Robara, 50, a boat captain, underwent emergency surgery
at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, and is listed
in a stable condition.
According to reports, Robara was in the Riverview area, at
around 20:30 hours, when a man brandishing a cutlass
confronted him and demanded cash. The man then proceeded to
chop him on his left foot.
Robara, who had $2000 on his person, handed over the money
to the man before collapsing to the ground. The bandit then
made good his escape.
Eyewitnesses in the area reported the matter to the police,
who went to the scene and assisted the Cuban to get to the
hospital.
No arrest has been made so far.
